How We Work

Our Service Guidelines

We did not stay busy all these years, and help all the people we have helped, by being difficult to do business with. In the conduct of our work we keep these things clearly in mind:
  1. A client pays for, and always gets, our best advice. We love to please, but we must first be candid.
  2. The responsibility to create understanding is the consultant's, not the client's. Therefore we avoid jargon, and work hard to communicate clearly.
  3. There are some "laws of nature" in computer technology, which are ignored at great risk, but every client's situation is unique and requires a unique solution. This is what makes our jobs interesting.
  4. There are usually at least three ways to solve a problem, only one of which is the consultant's. The art of our work is finding the solution that our client can best use.
  5. A client deserves at least a 10 to 1 payback on their investment in our services. This is our secret to obtaining good references and repeat business.
  6. In even the most serious situation, we strive to work pleasantly, and with humor. We all deserve as pleasant an environment as circumstances allow.
  7. When in doubt, we treat clients as we would wish to be treated ourselves.

We confess to publishing all this idealism on the web with a little embarrassment, since it probably looks pretty naive to our consulting peers. But hey, this is our web page and our clients confirm that our actions follow our words.

How We Charge for Our Work

We charge a very competitive hourly rate plus reasonable expenses for our services. The rates vary according to the staff we assign and the type work to be done. If you are used to "Big 6" rates (which reflect their very high overhead surcharges) then ours will be refreshing.

How Do We Begin?

Send us an E-Mail requesting a call from one of our consultants. Do not send any particulars of your situation in the E- Mail since the Internet is not a secure environment. We will call you within 2 business days to confidentially discuss your situation.

If it appears we can assist, and there is a mutual interest in proceeding, we can discuss rates and provide some references for you to check. Should you decide to proceed, we can provide a simple letter agreement that protects the confidentiality of your information and outlines the business basis of our relationship. We are not opposed to using an agreement that you provide, as long as it works for both of us.

From then on we function as part of your team, providing the services we agree upon. From time to time we discover opportunities to improve your situation that were not anticipated. In these happy circumstances, we always consult with you before substantially deviating from our planned approach. The point is that you are always in control, and the only surprises we strive to provide are positive ones!
